Sleeping on Curly Hair

If you do your curly hair at night you will have more time to get ready in the morning!

With daylight savings over it is harder to get up in the morning when it’s still dark out. This means sleeping in and rushing to get ready to make sure you get to work on time. By getting ready the night before saves you that time in the morning allowing you to get few more minutes of shut eye without being rushed.

We know that the less movement created while your hair is drying will result in less frizz and more control. Sleeping without moving is not a reality for some, but there are options that will allow you to do your curly hair at night so you have more time in the morning. Going to sleep with your hair still wet does not have to be uncomfortable. Here are some steps you can take to make sleeping with curly hair easier.

In the Evening – First, prepare your hair using your regular routine. Allow your hair to dry on its own for 30 minutes. Once your hair is surface dry it will be safe to sleep on. For loose curls group sections of curls towards the top of your head and secure with a Roller Jaw Clamp. This will make ensure a cleaner ‘S’ formation and a better hairstyle in the morning. For tighter curls, use a Hair Robe while sleeping. This will keep your curly hair secure with much less movement and allow them to dry properly and undisturbed while you sleep.

In the Morning – If you should wake up with frizz and messy hair do not panic. Curly Hair Solutions products reactivate with water so simply wet your hands and run them over the messy sections to get complete frizz control. Allow your hair to air dry or use a diffuser to bring back the bounce to your curls.

Now you can achieve long lasting frizz free curls by taking a few simple steps in the morning and allowing yourself to get a good night’s sleep.

Spring Curl Transition Tips

With spring officially being a week away, and now it’s the right time to start preparing our curly hair for the seasonal transition. Spring weather can be very unpredictable, going from nice warm temperatures to sudden rain, and then suddenly back down to cooler temperatures.  March is the month that we should take this time to have our curls accurately assessed for any damage as a result of the winter months. Once we know what products are right for our hair, we can repair damage, deepen our curl pattern, and add moisture and bounce back into our curls.

Here are some useful tips for each curl type that will assist you in adding the bounce back to your curls:

For loose curls, after you applied Curl Keeper™ add a bit of Curly Hair Solutions™ Gel while scrunching to give your curls extra hold and enhance your curl formation. This combination of Curl Keeper™ and Gel will ensure frizz-free curls with the right amount of hold to achieve a fuller style for a loose curl.

For medium curls, use the Skip Curl Technique along with Curl Keeper™. Scrunching with added Gel will spring up your curls adding more fullness to your style. After scrunching, group a few sections of curls and clamp them with the Roller Jaw Clamps. This will help achieve even more lift and volume at the root.

For tight curls, using a deep moisturizing treatment such as Curly Hair Solutions™ Pure Silk Protein will give your thirsty curls the added moisture they need, especially after the loss of moisture during the winter months. With the season change and as the weather continues to get warmer, increase the amount of Extenzz™, with Curl Keeper™. This will help you maintain the control of excess bulk you experienced through the dry winter season.

Start the spring season off on the right foot! With the right curly products and the right techniques you will be able to add bounce back into your curls and still get total frizz control.

Quick and Easy Holiday Curly Hair Tips

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – and sometimes, the most stressful!

December is filled with holiday celebrations that keep many of us on the go as we try to spend time with family and friends near and far. There’s food to prepare, gifts to purchase and give, religious ceremonies to attend and parties to enjoy.

In the midst of it all, we still want our curly hair to look its best. Here are a few tips to ensure that your hair stays healthy and happy during the holiday season, some of which can also double as gift-generating ideas for those special curlies in your life.

Check the weather forecast before going over the river and through the woods.
If you’re traveling to see family in an area with different weather patterns than what you experience at home, make sure you have the right curly hair products to help tackle those temperatures. What you use to protect your hair on a windy Toronto or Chicago winter morning might be too heavy if you’re spending Christmas at Grandma’s place in sunny Florida. Water conditions in different areas could also wreak havoc on your hair. Pack accordingly for such ventures away from home and don’t be afraid to use more or less of your favorite product depending on location.

Remember those styling tools:
Don’t you hate it when you realize you forgot to pack your wide-toothed comb in your travel bag, dooming you to a few days of inadequate attempts at finger combing conditioner through your tresses? Having an extra comb or another styling tool of choice to put in an overnight bag could be the difference between dazzling holiday tresses or a hair catastrophe. If you’re looking for a stocking stuffer for a curly hair friend (or trying to give others ideas for your own stocking), ask for styling tools.
